Family is one of the greatest gifts that God has given us. Every night, I thank Him for the people He has placed in my life—the ones I get to call family. Family isn’t just determined by blood; it is shaped by love, loyalty, and the people who stand by us through every season of life. For me, my family includes my parents, my relatives, my dogs, and my best friends. They have seen me at my highest moments of joy and my lowest moments of pain.
Recently, I graduated from college. It was a journey to say the least but accepting my diploma was one of the proudest moments of my life. My parents were there to watch me walk across the stage along with my cousin, my uncle, and my two aunts. Seeing their proud faces beam at me is a memory I will forever hold close to my heart. My entire family, even the ones who weren't physically with me that day, showered me with love and celebration. This was one of my highest moments of joy. However, they have also seen me at my lowest. I have written other posts about this, but I am recovering from heartbreak. It has not been a pretty journey, but if I learned one thing, it is that my family and God will never abandon me. They are the reason I am surviving this pain. If you are going through a low moment right now, please know the pain won't last forever. Lean on God and your family to get you through it. I am living proof that it works.
I realize not every family looks the same. Some families are close-knit, while others have distance—whether physical, emotional, or both. However, no matter the situation, family is a foundation that God provides to support us. It is important to lean on our family because they want the best for us. When life is joyful, they celebrate with us. When life is difficult, they help carry our burdens.
As I previously stated, I have had my own share of struggles. During some of the darkest years of my life, my family never left my side. I leaned on them when I felt weak, and their support helped me find the strength to keep going. If you are going through a hard time, don’t be afraid to reach out to your family. Sometimes, that can be difficult, especially if relationships are strained, but even a small step towards reconnection can make a difference.
And above all, we must remember that God is also our family. He is our Father. The One who will never leave us, never grow tired of us, and never turn away. If you feel alone, if you feel distant from your family, know that you can always lean on Him. He is there to listen, to guide, and to love unconditionally.
No matter where life takes us, we must hold on to the blessings of family—both the one God gave us on earth and the eternal family we have in Him. Lean on your family, and most importantly, lean on God. He will always be there to carry you through. Always remember, you are NOT alone.
